Climate change: Study finds ‘very concerning’ 74% increase in deaths associated with extreme heat brought on by the climate crisis – CNN

A pair of new studies out Thursday find a “very concerning” rise in the number of climate-related deaths and paint a picture of world where people struggle with regular temperature extremes.

One of the studies finds the number of deaths caused by high temperatures increased by 74% globally between 1980 and 2016. Deaths related to extreme cold increased 31% since 1990, a new report, the first of its kind, finds.

Emerging Oil Nations Reject Climate Curbs on Exploration, Eye Rapid Development – Offshore Engineer

he world’s newest oil-producing nations grabbed the spotlight at this week’s Offshore Technology Conference with ambitious plans to tap oil and gas discoveries in a race against a global energy transition to lower-carbon fuels.

At the conference highlighting renewable and cleaner-burning fuels and investors moving bets away from fossil fuels, Brazil, Ghana, Guyana, and Suriname laid out agendas to pump massive oil and gas discoveries that could reshape their economies – if they can get them to market before values erode.

The contrast between their goals and governments moving to impose net-zero carbon emissions rules by 2050 was clear in the first large U.S. oil technology conference and exhibit since the pandemic.

U.S. probing Moderna vaccine for increased heart inflammation risk – Washington Post

U.S. health officials are reviewing reports on the Moderna Inc COVID-19 vaccine being linked to a higher risk of a rare heart condition called myocarditis in younger adults, the Washington Post reported late on Thursday.

The investigation is focusing on Canadian data that suggests the Moderna vaccine may carry a higher risk for young people than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, especially for males below the age of 30 or so, the report added, citing sources.

“We have not come to a conclusion on this,” the newspaper quoted one source as saying. “The data are not slam bang.”

US Investigates Moderna Jab After Data Show 2.5x Higher Risk Of Heart Inflammation – ZeroHedge

The Internet’s social-media censors have been extremely vigilant at suppressing every tidbit of COVID vaccine “misinformation” that comes their way. So, as readers might imagine, drawing attention to publicly released data about the rare (but sometimes deadly) side effects associated with both mRNA and adenovirus-vector jabs has been…a challenge.

But let’s back up: over the past couple of months, health authorities in the US and Israel connected rare instances of myocarditis – that is, inflammation of the heart – to the mRNA jabs produced by Pfizer and Moderna. After a hurried secret meeting with its advisors in late June, the FDA reluctantly released a warning about a “likely association” between incidences of myocarditis and the new side effects.

Another step toward COVID vaccine passport? California, San Francisco, San Jose gear up for new mandates – The Mercury News

California took another step toward a vaccine passport on Wednesday with a new rule that requires more than a ticket for indoor events of 1,000 people or more: You’ll have to show proof that you are fully vaccinated or have tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours to get in the door.

The Golden State’s vaccine verification for concerts, conventions and sporting events, which begins next month, is the first for a state in the U.S., expanding on an earlier state order for events with a minimum of 5,000 people. And it mirrors a growing list of similar vaccine requirements — in public and private workplaces and imposed by individual cities and counties — as the state battles another surge of infections from the highly contagious delta variant.

“Disinformation Dozen”: A ‘Faulty Narrative’ With No Evidence, Says Facebook, Despite 16,000 News Headlines – GreenMedInfo

Facebook has had enough of CCDH and is now pushing back. After months of accusations that it is allowing 12 “super spreaders of misinformation” on its platform to cause serious harm to the public health, it now alleges that CCDH’s report titled, The Disinformation Dozen: Why platforms must act on twelve leading online anti-vaxxers has no real factual basis.

Before mandating vaccine, healthcare employers consider whether they can afford to lose staff – Concord Monitor

As a single mom to three, one of whom she began fostering two weeks ago, leaving her job would be challenging. Still, if her employer decided to impose a mandate, she said she would have no choice.

“I can’t be part of the system I feel is coercing and forcing things on individuals,” she said.

As the Delta variant spreads through New Hampshire, spiking daily infections and filling hospitals in its wake, healthcare providers have looked to vaccine mandates as a way to protect their vulnerable patients and residents.

However, employees like Grinnell have planted hesitation in the minds of administrators. In an industry that is facing a severe shortage of workers, losing employees over a vaccine mandate could throw the provider into a state of crisis.
