Technocrat Kissinger Suggests Peace; Ed Dowd’s Church Picnic

So, the reasonably big market move this week: SPX reversed its 7-week decline, and printed a strong-looking bullish reversal candle, but it was not enough to pull the skeptical forecaster back into an uptrend. The SPX move (+6.58%) came mostly on Thursday and Friday, alongside a bullish sector map (discretionary, energy, financials, and tech led).

image

What caused the move? All better now? Wolf (Richter) likes to say, “nothing goes to heck in a straight line.” Monthly still shows a downtrend. Could be a dead cat bounce. If Chris is right, and we have a food shortage queued up for arrival this winter, I’m going to pick “dead cat bounce.”

The alleged good news for equities: consumer spending rose +0.9% m/m (not recessionary), while the PCE (an inflation measure, with all inflation carefully removed) rose just +0.2% m/m. Supposedly this “lack of inflation” will cause the Fed to calm down. We are expected to ignore the Producer Price Index by Commodity (PPIACO), which was up (same month – April) 2% m/m, or 24% annualized. Here’s Main Stream Media’s spin:

World stock markets rally, treasury yields fall on inflation data

And that pesky PPIACO data – no drop visible here – worst since Nixon:

image

Supporting the equity-market bullish move was a wildly strong move in crappy debt; up +4.84% on the week. While the percentage move was less than seen in equities, the move on the weekly chart looks far more dramatic. The big move higher in crappy debt started on Tuesday, with the bulk of the move happening Wednesday and Thursday. This is one of my markers for “risk on”. And/or, increased hints of a willingness by our friends at the Fed to print money and bail out the people who lent money to corporations with the highest number of corporate-debt comorbidities.

It was a big move.

image

The dollar continued falling for the second week in a row, but the drop wasn’t lined up in time with equities or crappy debt. The buck’s big drop (and the Euro rally) came on Monday. For the week, the buck fell -1.48%. The Euro move on Monday was likely linked to some surprising news from the European Central Bank, which hinted that (after eight long years) it might consider raising rates above 0%.

ECB rate hikes in July and September are likely a done deal, France’s Villeroy says

ECB President Christine Lagarde surprised market players on Monday with a blogpost stating that the central bank could increase rates in July and “be in a position to exit negative interest rates by the end of the third quarter.”

image

Gold/USD appeared mostly decoupled from the fuss, rising +7.16 [+0.39%] on the week. When viewed through the Euro, that was a drop of -1.03%. On the daily chart, gold/Euros just seems to be moving sideways, while the weekly showed a relatively benign-looking doji candle. In both currencies, gold remains in a modest downtrend.

I’m focusing more on gold/Euros due to most of Western Europe being at the tip of the WEF’s “No Energy For You” spear, carried out by Scapegoat of the Decade, Mr. Price Hike Putin.

image

Crude is moving steadily higher, up +4.08 [+3.70%] to 114.21. But that’s not the worst – natural gas climbed +0.56 [+6.88%] to $8.70, which is a new all time high. Natgas did appear to run into some resistance on Wednesday and Thursday; you can see this in the daily chart. Mostly, the natgas price moves are about Russia, and Western Europe, which gets its natgas mostly from Mr. Price Hike via pipeline.

image

Curiously, we did have a surprising advocate for “peace” from an elder WEF/Technocrat/Founder Henry Kissinger on Tuesday of last week. Perhaps, this helped cause the price-resistance seen in natgas?

Henry Kissinger: Ukraine Should Give Up Territory to Russia to Reach Peace

Former secretary of state Henry Kissinger has said Ukraine should accept giving up part of its territory to reach a peace deal with Russia, and end the now three-month-long war immediately.

Talking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Monday, 98-year-old Kissinger said that failing to restart negotiations with Russia and continuing to antagonize Moscow could have disastrous consequences for Europe’s stability in the long term.

Is Mr. Secret Plan to End the War (the Vietnam War, that is) representative of the thinking at the WEF – who seems to hold hold the keys as to what will happen with this war? No idea. The young, energetic, and well-compensated President of Ukraine was not pleased. Perhaps, he’s become too greedy and the WEF is sending out Kissinger to calm him down?

Kissinger Calls To Cede To Russia Akin to 1930s Appeasement, Zelensky Says

Fun fact: Mr Kissinger is 98. George Soros is 92. Queen Elizabeth is 96. Those WEF-associated people sure live long lives. I wonder how they do this? Think they’d like to share?

Fecal transplants reverse hallmarks of aging

No Young Poop For You, Elderly Plebe!

The 10-year treasury yield retreated for the third week in a row; this week it fell just -3 bp to 2.75%. While crappy debt did incredibly well, the 10-year didn’t move much, but it does mark the third week of decline in yield (slash a rise in bond prices). Is this a top for the 10-year yield? That’s a deflationary signal, if true. And/or a signal of a possible early resumption of the Fed’s Treasury-buying operation.

image

Last, I’ll leave you with the future of America summarized by the oil in our Strategic Petroleum Reserve: Grandpa’s WEF/Technocrat-Handlers are spending down the emergency U.S. energy reserve as fast as they possibly can. That way, when about-to-be-former-superpower-U.S. has an actual oil emergency, we’ll be out of luck. No Diesel For You, Plebes = no deliveries, no groceries, no electricity. Today, we are back down to levels not seen since the 1980s.

How long until we run out? 1.71 years, at the current rate of six million barrels/week. That’s long before we can get rid of the feckless President Grandpa, and his WEF/Technocrat handlers, who appear hell-bent on removing the United States from superpower status at Warp Speed. So to speak.

image

I mentioned earlier there were a lot of moving parts. Here’s my attempt to list them all, by section. Because there are so many, I changed to a list format to track them!

“Health”:

  • Unknown viral cause of hepatitis in children – no sequence available, linked to “adenovirus type 41”. Nine children have died, 38 required liver transplants. The lack of a “Monkeypox” level of panic and histrionics (just imagine the coverage if Monkeypox had killed nine babies?) makes me suspect the Magic Juice is somehow involved. That’s a time-bomb waiting to explode.
  • Conversely – Monkeypox – a number of cases, a ridiculously large amount of coverage, but nobody yet has died, and even MSM doesn’t seem to be too impressed. But there is talk of culling hamsters. Best they can do. They don’t dare use smallpox, it is too deadly – it might kill too many of them too. (My guess).
  • Pfizer monthly data dump.
  • Moderna CEO Bancel [MRNA] can’t sell his Magic Juice for love or money; word is out – the shots are useless, or deadly, or both.
  • North Korea gets Covid-19; nationwide lockdown, but no vaccines, thanks. KJU knows the score, but isn’t blabbing.
  • Vaccines continue to visibly kill people; all 16 runners who collapsed, and the one who died at the Brooklyn half-marathon, were required to be vaccinated.
  • Canada waives vax requirements for Ukranian refugees. So if you’re a Canadian citizen, you can’t leave the country without receiving the Magic Juice. If you’re a refugee – your body, your choice!

War/Ukraine:

  • As mentioned earlier, Kissinger suggests peace.
  • Viewed from the non-MSM, Russia is actually doing reasonably well.
  • Russia controls half of the Donbas region.
  • Hints of disapproval even from MSM – “there is a limit to how far the United States and NATO will go to confront Russia, and limits to the arms, money and political support they can muster” – from NYT.
  • “People” are also “hinting” that Putin will be assassinated. Mr. Price Hike runs a nuclear-armed nation with a spy service of his own. What would you do if you were Mr. Price Hike, and wanted to deter such an event? Lots of possibilities there.
  • Will all of this turn into “peace”? WEF founder Kissinger really got my attention.

U.S. Politics:

  • U.S. “Right Direction” poll: 21%. Devastating.
  • More polling of U.S. citizens: inflation is the largest concern (60%), with Covid just 22%.
  • Elon Musk turns Republican.
  • Clinton lawyer Sussman in trouble – “Sussman had said he was not bringing the debunked allegations of a covert communications channel between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank to the bureau on behalf of any client, when he, in fact, billed Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign for his time and work on the matter.” Lying to the FBI is “problematic.” My question: why is the DOJ/FBI doing this? Is it an insurance policy in case the GOP takes over in November?
  • 2000 Mules – a 2020 election fraud documentary. I found it quite convincing.
  • “Far right” Marjorie Taylor Greene wins her primary with 70% of the vote, even with millions in cash dumped in to stop her by the Uniparty Donors; Liz Cheney is behind by 30 points. Both races are key indicators – these are just crushing margins.

Energy:

  • EU promises a 300 billion Euro spend to “quit reliance on Russian Energy.” Good luck with that, EU.
  • U.S. gasoline prices: all time high ($4.48)
  • Kerry: “fully transition to a resilient net-zero economy faster”; I’m sure he will be giving up his “resilient, net-zero” private jet right after hell-freezes-over.
  • The unelected European Commission (the “EU Politburo”) agreed that member states could purchase natgas from Russia. Terms? “Creative ambiguity.” I’m guessing that means using Rubles. The other choice is to starve.
  • President Grandpa’s Teleprompter: “High gas prices are part of ‘Incredible Transition‘.” As the shortages get worse, perhaps a transition to “Incredible Rationing” is next? Everyone gets a Gas Ration digitally distributed by the government (assuming appropriate Environmental, Social and Governance score)? WEF meets Nixon 1972.
  • Senator Pocohontas is enthusiastic about passing a Jimmy Carter-style “windfall profits tax” on oil companies, with the goal of further depressing energy production, but it does not look like it will pass the Senate.

Control:

  • The new WHO treaty – a work in progress. Not so popular with the third world.

Last, I’ll leave you with Ed Dowd, who makes frequent appearances on Bannon’s Rumble show – which itself is representative of the failure of the WEF/Technocrats to dominate social media. The U.S. “free speech immune system” is functioning reasonably well, some 17 months after the Bad Orange Man was removed from Twitter. If the immune system weren’t working, there would have been no need for the abortive “Janky’s Ministry of Truth” – the iron grip of TWTR/FB/GOOG would have done the job.

Dowd is market/economy focused, which is why I like to pull his views in here.

Ed Dowd: The Four Converging Forces That Will Destroy the Economy

Summary:

  • Fed’s rate hike cycle is over before it started.
  • A hard landing is coming.
  • They’ll attempt to cover the coming economic collapse with “variants and monkeypox”.
  • China exacerbating the U.S. “supply chain” issues with the six-week “COVID” lockdown in Shanghai.
  • The weekly “swing low” in the 30-year is signaling incipient deflation. [We can see this in the recent top in the 10-year rate too.]
  • Lots of people will go to jail if the real GOP (minus the RINOs) takes power.
  • Another “Bretton Woods” is on the way. CBDCs will be at the center. So will widespread debt default. [Armstrong agrees with this one.]

My analysis: Dowd is hinting we will see a “Debt Jubilee” for the government and the pension funds. Here are some of my additions: the Jubilee also applies to You and Me, if we want to give our debt-encumbered house (but not car) over to the WEF/Technocrat/Oligarchy after deflation utterly wipes out our job or small biz. Then we’ll get the option to rent it back, assuming our Social Credit Score (ESG?) remains good enough. Also add in the confiscation of our 401k (there was talk of this in 2008) replaced with “guaranteed payments” (later contingent on a good SCS, of course) by government. And existing government debt will be involuntarily turned into an income stream as well.

Dowd is predicting a depression “making 1932 look like a Church picnic.” Why a depression? My read: a depression provides the mechanism for the WEF/Technocrat/Oligarchy’s Great Reset wealth transfer. After Covid, even us little people know: drugs need mechanisms. “Ivermectin Docks to the SARS-CoV-2 Spike Receptor-binding Domain Attached to ACE2

So, a deflationary impulse is the mechanism to cause the wealth transfer; from the newly-impoverished, desperate, debt-defaulted Plebes who will, by the end, “own nothing.” The mechanism might need some bank failures as well.

Note #1: inflation won’t provide the same mechanism; a Great Depression-Scale “Church Picnic” event is required if the goal is to motivate the transfer of “enough” assets from the Plebes so the “you’ll own nothing” goal will be reached. The “Western Values will be tested to the breaking point” will be a side effect of the Church Picnic mechanism.

Note #2: the current inflation is much more about shortages – food, energy, and “supply chain” – and much less about money printing.

Note #3: Engineer Xi has effectively forbidden his citizens from traveling overseas. Perhaps he knows what is coming, and he’s actually protecting his citizens. Wild thought, I know. It might also explain why he’s apparently worried less about decoupling than he was back when he was dealing with the Bad Orange Man.

In PP-lingo, this scenario suggests the “Ka” phase is planned – required – and it could last longer than we are expecting. So, maybe, Ka-aaa-aaaa-aaaaa-aaaaaa-Poom! “The Fed really, really, REALLY wants to fight inflation!” Then – a year, and half a dozen bank failures later – “oops!”

If the Fed reacts more strongly than we anticipate, that’s an indicator. Plus, the effects of the famine ahead too, which I have much less experience with.

Discuss!

The DuckDuckGo Controversy

Recently, there is a lot of noise about DuckDuckGo now being an arm of Bill Gates and a “turncoat” for censoring search results in an effort to combat misinformation. Should you still use DuckDuckGo?

First, there are two issues with DuckDuckGo that should not be conflated. We will look at them one by one.

How does it work?

DuckDuckGo is primarily a meta-search engine. By that, I mean it derives its search results from other search engines. According to them,

DuckDuckGo gets its results from over four hundred sources. These include hundreds of vertical sources delivering niche Instant Answers, DuckDuckBot (our crawler) and crowd-sourced sites (like Wikipedia, stored in our answer indexes). We also of course have more traditional links in the search results, which we also source from multiple partners, though most commonly from Bing (and none from Google).

Although DuckDuckGo has its own web-crawler (and thus, behave like a traditional search engine to a certain extent), it gets most of its search results from Bing.

Bing is Microsoft’s search engine. And Microsoft used to be run by Bill Gates, who was its board member until March 2020.

Tracking

DuckDuckGo prides itself in being a search engine that does not build a profile of you by collecting information about you. This is their way to differentiate their product from Google.

In April this year, they released a privacy-oriented desktop web-browser that blocks trackers and advertisements.

Privacy Controversies

Given the fact that DuckDuckGo syndicates its search results from Microsoft, it is beholden to Microsoft. We should have anticipated a conflict of interest problem right from the beginning.

So, these two controversies should not have been a surprise:

Microsoft ads in search results

As explained by them, when you do a search in DuckDuckGo, this is what happens:

If you click on a Microsoft-provided ad, you will be redirected to the advertiser’s landing page through Microsoft Advertising’s platform. At that point, Microsoft Advertising will use your full IP address and user-agent string so that it can properly process the ad click and charge the advertiser.

So, when you click on a Microsoft-provided ad in DuckDuckGo’s search result, Microsoft will be collecting information (your IP address, user-agent string, and possibly more??) about you before redirecting you to the advertiser’s website. DuckDuckGo cannot control what information Microsoft collects about you and they have washed their hands over this matter. So, they refer you to Microsoft’s Privacy Policy, and you have to trust Microsoft to adhere to their own privacy policy.

Microsoft’s trackers exempted

Now, this is starting to get more controversial. DuckDuckGo’s web-browser is branded as a privacy-oriented product that blocks trackers and advertisements.

It turned out that they lied.

Although their web-browser blocks Google and Facebook’s trackers, a security research performed an audit and discovered it allowed Microsoft’s trackers to do its job unimpeded! As this article from Bleeping Computer reported,

Further tests showed that DuckDuckGo allowed trackers related to the bing.com and linkedin.com domains while blocking all other trackers.

After being caught, DuckDuckGo’s CEO and founder, Gabriel Weinberg, confessed that it is true in this tweet:

For non-search tracker blocking (eg in our browser), we block most third-party trackers. Unfortunately our Microsoft search syndication agreement prevents us from doing more to Microsoft-owned properties.

Political controversy: fighting misinformation

The next controversy is a political one. In March this year, Gabriel Weinberg announced that:

At DuckDuckGo, we’ve been rolling out search updates that down-rank sites associated with Russian disinformation.

In other words, as this Washington Post (a left-leaning publication) article said, they have chosen to take a political side.

Again, this should not have been a surprise. Pundits like Rob Braxman already knew that DuckDuckGo was a left-leaning as a company.

What about Brave?

Brave has its own independent search engine. What I mean by “independent” is that unlike other minor search engines (e.g. DuckDuckGo, Yahoo!), they do not syndicate their search results from another search engine. As they explained,

Brave Search uses its own, built-from-scratch index. Prior to Brave Search, producing quality results could be achieved only by big tech companies, which took many years and tens of billions of dollars to continually crawl the entire web.

So far, Brave has not announced that they are taking any political sides.

Inexperienced?

Brave’s search engine is still extremely new (released in 2021). Google has more than 20 years of experience honing and developing their search engine. So, you can say they are a new kid on the block.

Is Brave clean?

Brave may not be completely clean either. As this article reported,

The issue came to widespread attention yesterday, when Twitter user @Cryptonator1337 pointed out that Brave Browser auto-filled a referral code to the end of the web address when “binance.us” is typed into the address bar. Binance is a cryptocurrency trading website, and with that referral code, Brave Software could earn 20% from trading fees for every account created using the link.

As it turns out, Binance isn’t the only website Brave is injecting its own referral links into. The browser’s GitHub repository reveals the functionality was first added on March 25th, and the current list of sites includes Binance, Coinbase, Ledger, and Trezor. Brave Software receives a kickback for purchases/accounts made with those services — for example, Coinbase says that when you refer a new customer to the service, you can earn 50% of their fees for the first three months.

After they were caught, the backlash forced Brave to change. So, in terms of ethics, I have reservations about Brave.

What about Yandex and Prescient?

I don’t have much experience with either of them, so I cannot say much. I know Yandex is based in Russia, and not without its own controversy. Therefore, you can expect it to have a Russian bias. Here’s an interview with the Yandex leaders.

How do you protect yourself from tracking?

You cannot fully rely on the promises of search engines not to track you.

Even Brave.

For commercial organisations to provide you with a free search service, they need to find a way to pay their own bills. Someone has to pay something eventually. If not the users or donors, then it will be advertisers. Eventually, a sustainable business model has to eventuate, otherwise the free service will end eventually.

However, that doesn’t mean you should stop using DuckDuckGo. If you use it, do so with your eyes wide open. Specifically, do not click on advertisements in their search results or use their desktop web browser.

To protect yourself from tracking, you have to take matters to your own hands. You need a portfolio of solutions and multiple layers of defence. In my book, Easy Guide to Cybersecurity & Privacy, there are a lot of information on how you can do that.

What about “free speech” search engines?

I bet in the near future, you will hear of more “free speech” search engines coming to the market. But you need to remember this: there will certainly be drawbacks with “free-speech” search engines, especially the newer ones.

Personal responsibility

“Free speech” search engines are where you will find the contrarians and dissenting thinkers. But it is also where shysters, hucksters, con-mans, liars, propagandists and corrupt people lurk too. These people will find their way to whoever will let them in. Unfortunately, “free speech” search engines are especially vulnerable to these types of people.

My feeling is that the true gems like the contrarians and dissenting thinkers will be the tiny minority, whereas the dross will be the vast majority. Therefore, when it comes to sorting out misinformation from the good quality information, you are on your own. It will be your personal responsibility. If you are not careful or conscientious enough, you can fall into your own filter bubble or sucked into conspiracy theories and misinformation.

The problem with conspiracy theories is that they usually take a tiny kernel of truth (from the contrarians and dissenting thinkers) )and exaggerate, distort and mangle it until it becomes completely nonsense. And then a number of these complete nonsense are combined together and built on top of one another to create a big fantastical rubbish.

So, if you choose to use a “free speech” search engine, you will have to expend a lot more hard work to seek out the gems from the huge expanse of excrement. That is why the Bible says,

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. ~ Matthew 7:13-14

You will want to be the few who find it.
