After so much time cautioning about and preparing for the end of the Everything Bubble, it feels otherworldly to be finally confronted with the actual end of “what was.” It’s really here. This isn’t a dress rehearsal. The curtain has gone up and the show has started. I find myself alternating between excitement and deep anxiety. Maybe several times in the same hour. Excitement because this is a historic moment, one that offers us all a chance to reform things for the better. Deep anxiety because there are some very dark outcomes that are open possibilities.
