FCC’s robocall blocking plan may finally give you some relief (TS)
The pressure to do something about robocalls has been mounting. In April, Congress expressed frustration with illegal robocalls and reintroduced bipartisan legislation called the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Defense, or TRACED Act. The bill would improve enforcement policies, criminalize illegal robocalling and require phone companies to use a new technology that can validate that calls are originating where they claim to be coming from. In addition, the protocol would allow for faster tracing of illegal robocalls. The bill has passed the US Senate and is headed to the House, where it has bipartisan support.

Advocates say the program would offer some of the strongest benefits and job protections for workers who take extended time off for personal illness or to care for a child, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, and anyone else related by blood or affinity who has a close association with the employee.
Connecticut has long had a family and medical leave law that guaranteed time off, but not with pay, shutting out the working poor, said House Majority Leader Matt Ritter, D-Hartford. The bill, he said, rectifies that inequity.
Colorado becomes first state in nation to cap price of insulin (sv)
The new law also requires Attorney General Phil Weiser to investigate why drug manufacturers started rapidly raising the price of insulin in recent years, and it tasks the Department of Law with issuing a report of his findings by November 2020.
Boulder County commissioners see permanent supportive housing as potential homelessness solution (Jen H.)
“Because it’s permanent supportive housing, for some people, the goal is to have them live there forever,” said Lyndall Ellingson, Boulder Housing Partners Resident Services program manager. “For other people, the goal would be to help them stabilize to the point where they feel they can be successful somewhere else, and helping them work toward building that self-sufficiency that allows them to thrive in independent housing.”

If all goes according to plan, the southside Atlanta forest would serve as a public park replete with “edible trees, shrubs, vines, and groundcover,” as well as communal spaces, walking trails, garden beds, and stream-side areas.
The project would fall under the purview of the city’s parks and recreation department, and Trees Atlanta would be charged with maintaining the food forest.
